Embark on a new wizarding adventure

…at the American Museum of Natural History, where you’ll search for exhibits that echo characters, places, and enchanted objects in the books and movies of the Harry Potter universe. Be prepared to track fantastic beasts through a forbidden (rain)forest, dance with Hagrid-like giants, encounter a cute cousin of dragons, stalk hunters scarier than any auror, and more.

Both wizards and muggles (i.e., people who aren’t Potter experts) can play and enjoy this game. The hunt is not an addition to or variation on Harry’s adventures, but instead references to the books will provide a surprising bridge to many strange and wonderful exhibits. It’s a great way to discover—or rediscover—the Museum of Natural History.

This hunt is inspired by our popular Wizard School Scavenger Hunt at the Met, but it’s not a sequel! You don’t have to complete one to play the other.

This hunt is designed for kids and adults to do together, but all-adult teams will be allowed to compete separately. Kids must be accompanied by an adult. For ages 10 and up. Advance purchase required. Click on the button below to see the hunt schedule and get in the game!

All tickets include admission to the museum. Unfortunately, we cannot offer a discount to museum members because the museum explicitly tells us that participation in group events not sponsored by the museum, such as our hunts, are not a benefit of membership. The museum charges us for your participation, so museum admission must be included in every ticket we sell. Just think of it as a donation to a cause you like to support!

Early Bird pricing applies to purchases made by noon on the Wednesday before the hunt.
