  • What prompted a World’s Fair visitor to ask, “Have we eaten of the insane root that takes reason prisoner?”
  • Why did a marathoner take strychnine before a big race?
  • What made Eskimos wear furs during a summer in St. Louis?
  • Why is it bad news if a Bontoc headhunter adds a tattoo to his chest?
  • Why did men carry kegs of gunpowder into the Great Fire of 1849?
  • What punishment did a prisoner receive after sticking his head out the window of Gratiot Street Prison to smile at a lady?
  • Why did future rock-’n’-roll pioneer Chuck Berry paste letters to his forehead to spell ST. LOUIS backward?

You’ll be amazed and amused by what you discover about St. Louis—and your teammates.
