Bring Your E-Ticket and/or Confirmation Number to the Hunt: After you complete your online ticket purchase, you will see an on-screen “e-ticket” that you should print out and bring to the hunt. If you purchase tickets over the phone, you will receive a confirmation number that you should bring to the hunt. You must have a valid e-ticket or confirmation number to participate in the hunt. You will also receive an e-mail receipt of your purchase. No tickets will be sold at the hunt. If you need to purchase tickets, return to the Hunt Schedule.
Meeting Place: As you enter the museum’s West Building from Constitution Avenue at Sixth Street, bear right. Near the bottom of a staircase, look for our MC wearing a burgundy Watson Adventures cap and/or a sign on a clipboard that says Watson Adventures.
Meeting Time: Please be ready to hunt by the time indicated on the your e-ticket . If you need to check coats or bags, please arrive early, especially in bad weather, when the lines are longer.
Forming a Team: The hunt is played on teams of up to six people. You can bring your own team and hunt with as few as two on a team, or we can help you band together with kindred spirits at the start of the hunt. Over the years, weve found that pick up teams often have the most fun, not just because the hunt is a bit easier with more brains working on the questions, but also because the hunters have fun getting to know each other. Your team can have more than six people, but you will not be eligible to win a prize. But maybe thats not your priority anyway! The main objective is to have fun.
Prizes: Each member of the winning team will receive a prize (its a sur-prize). Plus if you fill out a survey after the hunt, youll be eligible to win free admission to a future hunt.
Dress: Be comfortable! Check your coat, dont carry anything heavy, and definitely wear comfortable shoes!
Directions to the Museum: The National Gallery of Art is located on Constitution Avenue NW between Third and Seventh Streets. The nearest Metro stops are Judiciary Square on the Red Line, Archives on the Yellow/Green Lines, and Smithsonian on the Blue/Orange Lines. Metro bus stops are located on 4th Street and 7th Street. The museum does not have its own parking garage, so youll have to park on the street or in a nearby garage. For more information, including an area map with Metro stops indicated, see the museums helpful info page at www.nga.gov/ginfo/area_map.shtm#pubtrans.
Information About the Museum: Call (202) 737-4215 or visit www.nga.gov. Please note that we are not affiliated with the museum, so dont call to ask them questions about the hunt. Theyll probably just be puzzled.
