Central Park Meeting Place Information

Bring Your E-Ticket and/or Confirmation Number to the Hunt: After you complete your online ticket purchase, you will see an on-screen “e-ticket” that you should print out and bring to the hunt. If you purchase tickets over the phone, you will receive a confirmation number that you should bring to the hunt. You must have a valid e-ticket or confirmation number to participate in the hunt. You will also receive an e-mail receipt of your purchase. No tickets will be sold at the hunt. If you need to purchase tickets, return to the Hunt Schedule.

Meeting Place: The entrance to Central Park on Fifth Avenue between 66th and 67th Streets. Look for a group of people and our crew in burgundy Watson Adventures caps.

Meeting Time: Please be ready to hunt at the time indicated on your e-ticket.

What if the Weather Is Horrible? At least two hours before the hunt, we will have an announcement on the Hunt Hotline if we are forced to cancel the hunt due to bad weather: Call 877-9-GO HUNT, extension 12. If the hunt is canceled, please contact us by phone or by e-mail to reschedule to another date.

Forming a Team: The hunt is played on teams of up to six people. You can bring your own team and hunt with as few as two on a team, or we can help you band together with kindred spirits at the start of the hunt. Over the years, we’ve found that “pick up” teams often have the most fun, not just because the hunt is a bit easier with more brains working on the questions, but also because the hunters have fun getting to know each other. Your team can have more than six people, but you will not be eligible to win a prize. But maybe that’s not your priority anyway! The main objective is to have fun.

Prizes: Each member of the winning team will receive a prize (it’s a sur-prize). Plus if you fill out a survey after the hunt, you’ll be eligible to win free admission to a future hunt.

Dress: Be comfortable! Don’t carry anything heavy, and definitely wear comfortable shoes! If the weather is hot, bring water or money to buy a beverage during the hunt—you’ll pass carts selling food and drink.

Directions to the Starting Place: For subway and bus information, visit Hopstop.com. For more information about the park, visit www.centralparknyc.org.

Learn More About the Central Park: You don’t need to know anything about the park to triumph on our hunt. But if you want to dig deeper, the best introductory guide is the Barnes & Noble Complete Illustrated Map and Guidebook to Central Park (despite some occasionally atrocious prose). If you’d prefer a coffee-table-style book with big, gorgeous pictures, try Sarah Cedar Miller’s Central Park: An American Masterpiece, which also is an informative read. If you’re doing our Starring Central Park Hunt, you can track down more movie locations with the expert help of Chuck Katz’s Manhattan on Film: Walking Tours of Hollywood’s Fable Front Lot. (We could do with less plot synopsis, but the book is quite comprehensive.) And if you just want to look at some trees, you can’t do better than to carry the pocket-size New York City Trees, a guide produced by the New York City Parks Department. Best of all are the tree-focused walking tours of city parks. You like scavenger hunts? Finding the specimen trees will be a challenge.
