American Art Museum Hunt
Meeting Place Info

Bring Your E-Ticket and/or Confirmation Number to the Hunt: After you complete your online ticket purchase, you will see an on-screen “e-ticket” that you should print out and bring to the hunt. If you purchase tickets over the phone, you will receive a confirmation number that you should bring to the hunt. You must have a valid e-ticket or confirmation number to participate in the hunt. You will also receive an e-mail receipt of your purchase. No tickets will be sold at the hunt. If you need to purchase tickets, return to the Hunt Schedule.

Meeting Place: Use any entrance and proceed to the new Robert and Arlene Kogod Courtyard in the center of the museum. There, look for our MC wearing a burgundy Watson Adventures cap that says “Watson Adventures.”

Meeting Time: Please be ready to hunt by the time indicated on the Hunt Schedule. If you need to check coats or bags, please arrive early, especially in bad weather, when the lines are longer.

Forming a Team: The hunt is played on teams of up to six people. You can bring your own team and hunt with as few as two on a team, or we can help you band together with kindred spirits at the start of the hunt. Over the years, we’ve found that “pick up” teams often have the most fun, not just because the hunt is a bit easier with more brains working on the questions, but also because the hunters have fun getting to know each other. Your team can have more than six people, but you will not be eligible to win a prize. But maybe that’s not your priority anyway! The main objective is to have fun.

Prizes: Each member of the winning team will receive a prize (it’s a sur-prize). Plus if you fill out a survey after the hunt, you’ll be eligible to win free admission to a future hunt.

Dress: Be comfortable! Check your coat, don’t carry anything heavy, and definitely wear comfortable shoes!

Directions to the Museum: The American Art Museum (and National Portrait Gallery) is located on F Street at 8th Street. The nearest Metro stop is the Gallery Place-Chinatown station. Parking garages and metered street parking are available in the area.

Information About the Museum: Visit americanart.si.edu. Please note that we are not affiliated with the museum, so don’t call to ask them questions about the hunt. They’ll probably just be puzzled.
